Our speaker, Samuel Marchant, now LNERs Reliability Manager, led the investigation into the causes of Nitrogen Dioxide when with Hitachi Rail after unexpected results from an RSSB study on the air quality on-board a class 800 train.
Taking a collaborative approach from Hitachi, DfT and the train operators with support from RSSB to understand the cause and find a solution.
Samuel is a chartered engineer, a graduate of the MSc in Railway Systems Engineering and Integration and has worked for Hitachi Rail introducing the IEP fleet and more recently joined LNER as the Reliability Manager.
Air Quality is an import issue and requires the rail industry to act to improve and reduce levels of pollutants which includes air quality on-board trains.
This is a talk on how Hitachi undertook further train testing, formed a strategy to develop a solution to an existing train.
